Newport’s Jewish History Tour

Stroll the neighborhood where Newport’s early Jewish settlers worked side by side with their neighbors. Hear stories about the founders of Touro Synagogue and learn about the legacy of religious freedom they left behind.

Feel transported through time to the heyday of this thriving colonial metropolis on a lantern-lit stroll through Newport’s Historic Hill.

Colony House & Wanton-Lyman-Hazard House

Tour  the 1739 Colony House, built to house R.I. government meetings, and the 1697 Wanton-Lyman-Hazard House, Newport’s oldest house museum.

 

Great Friends Meeting House & Seventh Day Baptist Meeting House

11:30 am Tuesday & Thursdays, June-October

Tour Newport’s earliest houses of worship: the 1699 Quaker meeting house, built for the Society of Friends, and the 1730 Seventh Day Baptist Meeting House.
