This oldest standing synagogue in the United States has been virtually unaltered since its dedication. Seen from the street, the structure is all classical grace; inside, its ornate yet elegant sanctuary reflects traditional Jewish worship practices that date back hundreds of years. Here, Newport’s active congregation and visitors from around the world come to worship and reflect.
  
Touro Synagogue is a National Historic Site and an affiliate property of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Every year approximately 30,000 visitors from around the world come to visit Touro Synagogue, delight in its magnificent architecture, and hear its remarkable and inspiring story.

Beginning May 3, 2009, tours will be available to the general public from noon to 2 pm. Sundays through Friday. From July 1 through July 31, hours will be expanded to 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. And from August 1 to September 6, the hours will be further expanded to 10 a.m. to 4 pm. Group tours may also be scheduled. No tours will be offered on Saturdays.
